TruckPol is a Police Intelligence Desk recording information on all aspects of road freight crime.

Metropolitan Police in partnership with the Insurance and Freight Industries

This involves all classes of commercial vehicles from car-derived vans to articulated LGV units and all types of loads including hazardous materials.

It aims to record all incidents involving 'jump ups', hi-jackings, warehouse break ins and thefts of commercial vehicles.

It is a national system with an additional interest in crime committed against UK hauliers whilst abroad.

It has the support of the Association of Chief Police Officers and will continue to facilitate intelligence led policing.

What can it do?

Enables Police to target persistent offenders

Offers a database which is searchable on date, time, location, load and MO

Provides an electronic platform for intelligence dissemination

Encourages partnerships and exchange of information with statutory enforcement agencies and other parties to assist in the reporting of and fight against road freight crime

Can provide an analytic picture of road freight crime in your area

How is the intelligence gathered?

Intelligence is gathered from all available sources. Your information could be vital in solving a serious crime. This can only be achieved by submitting factual information to your FIB or local Intelligence Officer - for inclusion onto the Truckpol database.

Intelligence can then be disseminated throughout the UK to all 52 police services through one entry on the database.
